I remember him

He was so beautiful. I'll always remember him. He was so beautiful like the morning of that day.
beautiful he was when we were alone
we never met after because the night took him away
everything like a secret was left behind in the light
his lips hands face full of tears maybe it's best time you raise it all the pain
but still often too often too often I remember him
daily the rain is falling by the park
 I stand alone
memory came over me
I remember the morning of all the sorrow
I remember the night with it he went away
He was so beautiful like the morning of that day
beautiful he was when we were alone
we never met after that because the day took him away

To Live In The Hearts.....

"To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die"...Thomas Campbell.

One day I was reading a romance novel on the bleachers of Farmers Oval Park where my friends and I hung out as teens. My friend Mike came and sat next to me and I read him this caption which was written on the beginning page of the book.  I couldn't have known then that he would be killed a year later and this saying would remind me of him for the rest of my life. I even took out an ad in my high school year book with this caption dedicated to him on a special page. The year he was killed he promised to take me to my high school prom. He died 6 months before.... Happy Birthday, my friend. I promised you as I walked away from your grave that I will never forget you. You have not died. As you will always live in my heart.

You Should Be Here

42 years gone. I thought of you today. Just like I promised. You should be here. Wherever you are, you should know I still carry you with me.

Happy Birthday - Mike- Never Forgotten

I look to the sea reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we'll try best that we can to carry on

I Know Your Out There Somewhere

Moody Blues - I Know Youre Out There by jpdc11

The mist is lifting slowly
I can see the way ahead
And I've left behind the empty streets
That once inspired my youth.

And the strength of the emotion
Is like thunder in the air
'Cause the promise that we made each other
Haunts me to the end...

Happy Birthday Mike

You finally asked me to dance on the last slow song
Beneath that moon that was really a disco ball
I can still feel my head on your shoulder
And hoping that song would never be over.

I haven't seen you in ages
Sometimes I find myself wondering where you are
For me you'll always be eighteen and beautiful
And dancing away with my heart

A WISH FROM MIKEY

Every now and then something leads me into my attic. Maybe it's been the long winter and lots of boring weekends that  prompted me to go through the special memory box I keep there. I came across this Hallmark book that was a gift from my friend Mike many years ago. He is no longer with us here on this earth, but in my heart he is with me always. Thanks again, Mike. Miss you.

A wish from Mike on my 16th birthday, 1973.

I do not wish you joy without a sorrow....
Nor endless day without the healing dark,
Nor brilliant sun  without the restful shadow,
Nor tides that never turn against your bark.
I wish you love, and strength, and faith and wisdom,
Goods, gold enough to help some needy one...
I wish you songs, but also blessed silence,
And God's sweet peace when every day is done.
