Love Is Patient

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7).

An Understanding Heart

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?

1 Kings 3:9

The death of President Franklin Roosevelt abruptly thrust Harry Truman into the presidency. He traveled to Capitol Hill to address Congress, and at the end of his speech he said: “As I have assumed my heavy duties, I humbly pray Almighty God, in the words of King Solomon: ‘Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?’ I ask only to be a good and faithful servant of my Lord and my people.”

Colossians1:9-11

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,
10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,
12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,

14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Isaiah 40

Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:28‭-‬31 NIV

1Corinthians 13 "The Love Chapter for Mothers"

The Love Chapter For Mothers
If I talk to my children about what is right and what is wrong, but have not love,
I am like a ringing doorbell or pots banging in the kitchen.
And though I know what stages my children will go through and understand their growing pains, and can answer all their questions about life and believe myself to be a devoted mother,
but have not love, I am nothing.
If I give up the fulfillment of a career to make my children’s lives better and stay up all night sewing costumes or baking cookies on short notice, but grumble about lack of sleep,
I have not love and accomplish nothing.
A loving mother is patient with her children’s immaturity and kind even when they are not; a loving mother is not jealous of their youth, nor does she hold it over their heads whenever she has sacrificed for them.
A loving mother believes in her children; she hopes in each one’s individual ability to stand out as a light in a dark world; she endures every heartache and backache to accomplish that.
A loving mother never really dies.
As for home-baked bread, it will be consumed and forgotten; as for spotless floors, they will soon gather dust and heel marks.
As for children, right now toys, friends, and food are all-important to them. But when they grow up, it will be their mother’s love that they will remember and pass on to others.
In that way, she will live on.
So care, training, and a loving mother reside in a home,
 these three;
but the greatest of these is a loving mother.

Do You Ask?

James 4:3 You do not have because you do not ask".
Instead of turning to God as our first choice, how often do we make him our last resort?  And then we wonder why we don't have the guidance, comfort or provisions we do desparetly need and seek.
If you have a need today, make God your first choice. He is a Father who loves to meet His children's needs ,if only they ask.

Mean People Need Jesus

One of my favorite bible passages is Titus 2:7-8. It is a word for "real" Christians who live in the real world and want to maintain a strong witness.

"In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show them integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about  us."
